WordAlone Presidency changes

Jaynan Clark Egland (President, WordAlone Network)

October 29, 2001

At its October 25th meeting of the WordAlone Network Board of Directors, Pastor Roger Eigenfeld, senior pastor of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Minnesota announced his resignation as President of WordAlone. Citing his need to spend more time with the 8,500 member St. Andrew’s congregation, as well his desire to see WordAlone become more effective in promoting renewal within the ELCA, the Board accepted his resignation with gratitude for the work he had done in helping to birth WordAlone. Eigenfeld will continue to serve on the Board focusing his attention on recruiting large congregations to become active in the renewal efforts of WordAlone.

The Board then went on to elect Jaynan Egland, co-pastor with her husband Steve at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Spokane, Washington. As the new President and CEO of WordAlone, Pastor Egland brings a wealth of experience to this position having served six years as a missionary in Tanzania, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa and Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. In addition the Eglands have also served in Honolulu, Hawaii where her husband Steve served as a chaplain with the United States Navy. Pastor Egland also served in the secular world as a field sales engineer for Texas Instruments. The Eglands are the parents of four children.
